May 7 - Abingdon Gap Shelter (456.7)

A nice day, trail at the first eight miles or so among the "easiest" so far. Relatively gentle ups and downs, and a nice path along a farm's property. Second half was considerably hillier, but still made shelter around 4 PM. Decide not to push the miles, it's been warm again, drinking lots of water to keep up with fluid loss.

Enter Virginia tomorrow, which will complete Tennessee and North Carolina. Virginia contains more miles than any other state, about 24% of the total Appalachian Trail. My estimate is I'll be there for a month and a half, and hopefully less.
