Still on...

Everything is coming together, holding together, so a start on Friday, May 12th looks good.

Begin just short of a 100 mile stretch of trail known for its rocks, the basis for Pennsylvania's being renamed by AT hikers to "Rocksylvania". Looking forward to the challenge. Have not had the time to keep up with gym and physical prep, so expect to go relatively slow first week or so.

Transportation "driver" is my 88 year old dad who still enjoys long drives. We will probably listen to lots of Classical music on the way - its normally on in his home now, as it was in our home growing up. Back then if we were slow to get up on the weekends, he'd put on Ride of the Valkyries or something similar to rouse us from bed. We'd grumble, he'd smile.

Electrical engineer by training and vocation he thinks precisely. Can remember everything, from family connections to places he had visited with my mom ("we took route 190 over this mountain pass 14 miles south of Sometown, temperature was in the low 60's and the wind was coming from the southwest at 8 miles an hour. We could have taken route 62a, a state road mind you, but that had a landslide that morning so we went by route 190." Exaggeration, of course, but you get it ;)
